After Cricket Life

I appreciate you taking the time to read this and find out a little bit more of me and what I am doing. 7 years ago I retired from playing cricket for Australia. Now this had been something I had been doing my whole life  it was my dream and sole driving force for all those years. Since then to be honest I have tried to find my way in the world of normal society as they say. Trying to get work at doing the standard 80 hours per week in traditional business and really getting nowhere with it. After some should searching as in what I really wanted to do and how I wanted to lead my life I decided it had to be working for myself and on my terms which gave me the freedom to enjoy life. Now I live an amazing lifestyle from home making residual income and travelling around the world. I challenge the status quo of having to , work for someone else with no passion or freedom in life. I believe in freedom, lifestyle and fun and I believe anybody and everybody can have that if they want. My passion is to lead my life with my wife and family the way we want and achieve our goals on the way.. My vehicle for this has been the the internet and social media because of this the world has become a much s,smaller place and one in which we can all connect. I have chosen this path and it's the new age of business, working from home and building residual income. But it takes time and is not for everyone I can understand but I wanted to share the at I am on and where I am going. In the new year I will be hopefully launching and working with a great company which sells online sports equipment as I am looking to promote cricket and get gear out to the masses so to enjoy the great game. The other is something which might seem odd but the products stand out to me and the company. I have provided a link Jeunesse and if you would like more information please head to the site and click on the email top right which will go to my office for more information. The journey after cricket is always entertaining taking me down different paths but meeting some great people on the way. Keep going forward I say.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

                           THE GREAT ADAM GILCHRIST

The title really tells the story for me in terms of the person he is and the cricketer he is right up to the end of his playing days. The big topic going around at the moment in the latest round of the IPL is overseas players and the form they are in and some of them who are leading the team dropping themselves because of form.

This in itself is quite incredible if you think of it as in normal international teams it would not be heard of that the captain walks in one game and tells the coach I will sit out this one per the best interests for the side but I will stay the leader of the group and remain with the playing party. We all know this would just not happen at all but in the IPL we are seeing it in many cases from Gilchrist to Ponting .

Why, well the answer is easy really this it is big business with big franchises behind them and its win at all costs. From that point of view if that means their is casualties on the way per international stars missing out so be it. A tough line but over the last few years we are seeing the landscape change in these areas.  A conversation with +Aakash Chopra last week on the +The Cricket Club show we spoke about how it is so important for each Franchise to have strong Indian players from international level plus local players. The big international players are nice to have but to play they must be performing at the highest level.

Last week we saw +Adam Gilchrist leave himself out of the side and mentioned that at this stage he was not batting well enough to keep his place in the side and if he did he would be keeping out someone better at the moment. He also mentioned that leadership is not just on the field but off as well and he would be doing everything possible off the field for the group.

Well Mr +Adam Gilchrist I take my hat off to you and it does not surprise me that this is what he would do as long as I have known him from our junior days he has always been the ultimate team man with their best interest always at heart. It would always be a tough call and one must put there ego aside as when you are part of the side you want to perform at your best but when this is not happening it is frustrating.

Time does catch up with you whether its reflexes or eyes or just going through the same routines you have done for decades but it could also just be a form slump which in +Indian Premier League | IPL type format can happen very easily and quickly per the amount of games and how quick they are played, I would imagine their is little time on the road and  training days to fix things if you need to , then when you do bat again you have to score at more then a run a ball which is tough when you are in form let alone out of it.

Adam will always be a great of the game and will always be remembered for great things on the field and great things off it , these type of situations just enhance his reputation as one the games great men.

It was an honour to play alongside him and to be his friend and even bigger thrill was standing at the other end of the wicket when he was personally dismantling a bowling attack , oh what great times.

Thank you for reading please leave your comments and lets discuss your thoughts ..

Kind Regards

Ashes 2013 Squad

                                           ASHES 2013

Well its certainly getting closer you can almost feel the excitement in the air everywhere you turn now people are talking #Ashes and what lies ahead. Both teams coming off poor tours with teams and line ups likely to change but we can talk about that some more when the time is right.

I want to talk about the Australian Squad which was announced yesterday by Chairman of selectors John Inverarity  and which through up some curve balls but which was nice in a way as I feel the losses and bad losses they were in India have made the men at the top sit bolt upright and realise they must start winning and playing more competitive cricket and it has to be this next tour. As if your not winning not only are players vulnerable to being axed but people in those nice jobs looking after Australian cricket will start to worry as if we have a poor Ashes campaign then changes need to be made and all aspects once again need to be looked at.

The two big stories to come out of this squad are the announcement of Brad Haddin as VC and the recall of 1 test player Chris Rogers who at the age of 35 is making a comeback.

Lets start with the Haddin announcement and one which I think is great for the Michael Clarke and the team and really offers great support to the whole group with just his leadership qualities and experience at all forms of cricket. Yes I know a tough call on Wade but you have to remember he took over because Haddin left the team for personal reasons and then never really got his spot back I feel his batting and keeping and leadership is the perfect combination for the VC role . He and Michael Clarke are close friends and will now join a strong partnership for the next two ashes campaigns something that is needed very quickly if we are to succeed on these tours. Tough times need tough decisions and I say well done to the selection panel in making this call age should be no barrier and in Australian cricket for far to long its been a major issue by them and the media as to me just plain and simple pick the best side for test XI.

To the return of Chris Rogers is another selection which I have to say well done to the panel again as he is 35 only played 1 test match but since then has piled on a mountain of runs in first class cricket here in Australia and in the UK. You have to commend him on that and something we on The Cricket Club show have been talking about over the India series is that we want players in the first class system to make runs and make plenty of them so you have to get picked and you give the selectors no choice.
That is exactly what Chris has done for WA and Victoria over the years and it has been surprising that he has not been picked in the past but the only reason I see for that is since the retirement of the great 4 some 6 years ago Australian cricket has been all about promoting the youth and having a succession plan. Australia A tours are for promoting youth for experience the Australian Test team is for our countries best XI players for the job no excuses. Age does not matter just the credit of performances that you are putting in and showing the country what you are made of as player. This is what Chris has worked on for years and even by his own admittance might of thought his days had gone playing for Australia but he has another chance now and like the great Mike Hussey I believe he will have some great years ahead of him playing for Australia as age shall have no barrier going forward so I say bat on until you drop.

In saying that I feel he will play the first test in England which is the right move and I feel that Shane Watson will be bowing and batting back to his best with the freedom now that he has.

So I thought I would put my first test team pick up for you sop please have a look and let me know your hopefully kind comments.

1ST TEST SIDE

Warner
Cowan
Rodgers
Clarke
Hughes
Watson
Haddin
Starc
Siddle
Pattinson
Lyon

This to me is the basic set up for the series but yes all depending on conditions and injuries leading into the series but its always good to have a chat about it and throw ideas around.

Thanks for reading look forward to hearing your thoughts....
